“Sacred Rest” Is about the recentering of rest and how in it, we not only wake up to see the truths in ourselves, but we rediscover our humanness. “Rest is Resistance” by Tricia Hersey inspired this piece. Here are a few of my favorite key points in the book.
“Rest is a healing portal to our deepest selves.”
“Rest is revolutionary for the soul.”
“Grind Culture has made us all human machines, willing and ready to donate our lives to a capital system that thrives by placing profits over people.”
“Rest is radical because it disrupts the lie that we are not doing enough.”
“Grind culture is a collaboration between white supremacy and capitalism.”
“Rest is protest, rest is resistance, rest is reparations.”
“Our worth is not connected to how much we produce.”
“Our collective rest will change the world because our rest resides in a spirit of refusal and disruption.”
“Center rest as a means for a connection and path back to our true nature.”
“Grieving is a sacred act.”
“Overworking disconnects us from ourselves.”
My rest means so much more to me now and I refuse to feel bad for needing to do so any longer. Thank you Tricia Hersey (@thenapministry on IG) for your beautifully written work. We rest with you and in it we arrive home to ourselves.
“Sacred Rest” is dedicated to my Grandma, my Great Grandma, and my Great Great Grandma, who I am so fortunate to have all met. May they Rest In Peace and Paradise. ❤️🌺
